Abingdon Counselling and Psychotherapy A reflection

Helen Asbury MA(Hons) Cantab, MBACP

I have completed four years of training in Relational Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy in Oxford.

Prior to that, I completed an Open University module on "Mental Health and Distress", and a number of shorter courses on psychology, and introductions to different schools of counselling.

I am currently working towards the Certificate of Transactional Analysis (CTA), and accreditation by UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy).

I am committed to continuing professional development and training through conferences, workshops and individual study. In my practice, alongside my TA training, I draw on the experience and thinking of psychotherapists from many different traditions.

I am a member of BACP and am on the BACP Register of Counsellors & Psychotherapists. I am a student member of UKATA (The UK Association of Transactional Analysis) and a member of the ITAA (International Transactional Analysis Association).

I have experience working with clients with a wide variety of issues, including:

I have undertaken specific extra training in working with the underlying psychological problems of overeating and obesity that make it so difficult to achieve or maintain weight loss. In addition to individual psychotherapy for this issue, therapy groups may sometimes be available: please ask for details.

I am bound by the code of ethics and professional practice of the UKATA, which is a member of UKCP, and work in accordance with the BACP ethical framework of Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am committed to regular supervision of my work.
